Poems by Lou-Ellen

My Friend died

From the first time we met
Friendship came so easily
Including when you met my husband
And you both talked and ignored me!

Your warmth drew me to you
Your sarcasm had me stay
As I looked forward to seeing you
At work each and every day.

You hugged me for the last time
In our Toastmasters meeting
Congratulated me on the book I’d written
And yet, today, I’m sitting here grieving!

I will miss you very much my friend.
In loving memory of Robert W. Smith
